The Kitchen Appliance Store buyers guide to Integrated appliances

Integrated appliances require a furniture door to match your kitchen and, with the exception of semi integrated models with a visible control panel, will be completely hidden.

Built in appliances are designed to fit within your units but remain visible.

Avoid common ordering and installation errors
  • Make sure you order the correct size door.
  • Carefully check the housing aperture size.
  • Fridge freezers require two separate furniture doors.
  • Are you sure you want an integrated appliance that needs a matching furniture door?
  • Slider model refrigeration requires your furniture door to be separately hinged to your housing.
  • Pay close attention to the appliance ventilation requirements especially if your kitchen units are fitted up to the ceiling.
  • Floor standing integrated appliances such as dishwashers, fridges and washing machines require a level, sound floor.
  • Restrictions behind the appliance such as plumbing or electrics may well prevent the machine from fitting correctly.

Integrated Dishwashers: Fully or Semi?

A dishwasher can be either of the above. "Fully integrated" is the term used to describe an appliance that is completely covered by a furniture door when installed. Semi integrated means that there will be a control panel visible above the furniture door.

Integrated Washing Machines: Fully or Semi?

Washing machines are nearly always Fully Integrated, although there are a few Semi integrated models available. Fully integrated is the term used to describe an appliance that is completely covered by a furniture door when installed. Semi integrated means that there will be a control panel visible above the furniture door.
